Botsford Family Historical Association

How We Started

Descendants of Henry and Elizabeth Botsford who made the journey to America from England in 1639 to escape the unrest in England at the time and became one of the original planter families of Milford, Connecticut.

In 1905 Charles Woodruff Woolley Sr. gathered a group of their descendants, and started what is now known as the Band of Botsford.

Who We Are Today

We are a family committed to preserving the heritage of the Botsford family and the City they founded, through genealogical research, conservation of historical artifacts, and fellowship.

We welcome descendents of all the Founding Families of Milford, Connecticut to join our Band.

The Botsford Family

The Botsford story starts in the Parish of Chalgrave, County Bedfordshire, U.K. and continues in Milford, Connecticut.  From Milford, Botsfords spread out throughout the United States and Canada, settling in New York, Pennsylvania, Michigan, and New Brunswick, among other places.

Botsfords founded the town of La Jolla in California and served as the Speaker of the Canadian Parliament.  They were novelists and naturalists, pioneers and politicians, historians and showmen.  Join us to explore this wonderful heritage and share in our families' future.
